Dry eyes
Dry eyes Tears play a crucial role in keeping our eyes moist, ensuring clear vision by letting light effectively pass through the eye's lens, and supplying oxygen to nourish the eye. They also help fend off infections and keep foreign substances at bay.   Now, when it comes to dry eyes, it's a pretty common issue that can stem from abnormal tear production or tears evaporating too quickly. This can lead to discomfort, irritation, that feeling like there's something foreign in your eye, redness, pain, blurry vision that gets better with blinking, or even feeling like your eyes are tired and heavy. What causes dry eyes can vary—getting older, being a woman (yeah, we're more prone to it), certain allergy medications, spending loads of time on screens, being in places with dust and smoke, gusty winds, and bright lights, they can all have a hand in it.   But hey, the good news is there are ways to tackle dry eyes:   Keep away from things that can make it worse, like strong winds and dust, by popping on some sunglasses and protecting those peepers. Remember to take breaks or blink more often, especially when you're glued to screens for a while. You've got these cool eye drops called artificial tears. There's a type for daytime (more watery) and nighttime (a bit thicker). Which one to use depends on how serious your dry eye situation is. Sometimes your doc might suggest special eye drops that encourage your eyes to make more tears. Give your eyes a treat with warm, clean cloths over your closed eyelids to help them feel better. If the dry eye struggle is real and isn't improving, it's wise to chat with an eye doctor.   All in all, dry eyes can be a bother, but there are solutions out there. It's important to take good care of your eyes, especially when it's all dry outside. If you suspect you've got dry eyes, having a chat with an eye care expert is a smart move.

How to Keep Your Eyes Safe During Sports | Essential Eye Health Tips
Whether you're an elite athlete or enjoy sports as a weekend hobby, your eyes are one of your most valuable assets. Good vision enhances your performance, while eye injuries can not only sideline you from the game but also affect your daily life. At Bangkok Eye Hospital, we’re dedicated to helping everyone—professional athletes and casual players alike—understand the importance of eye health in sports. This blog provides essential tips to keep your eyes safe and your vision sharp, no matter your level of activity.   Why Eye Health Matters in Sports: Performance Enhancement: Clear and precise vision is key to success in sports, from accurately judging distances to reacting quickly to fast-moving objects. Prevention from Injury: Protecting your eyes can prevent serious injuries that may not only impact your performance but also your overall quality of life. Long-Term Vision Safety: Taking care of your eyes today can prevent vision problems later in life, ensuring you can continue enjoying sports and other activities.   Common Sports-Related Eye Injuries: Blunt Trauma: Sports like basketball, football, and baseball can lead to injuries from impact, which can cause anything from minor bruising to serious conditions like retinal detachment. Serious Injuries: In contact sports like boxing, karate, or taekwondo, direct hits or accidental jabs from opponents can result in severe and dangerous injuries, including cuts, fractures, or even eye injuries that require immediate medical attention. UV Damage: Prolonged exposure to the sun during outdoor sports can lead to harmful effects on the eyes, increasing the risk of cataracts and other conditions. Tips for Keeping Your Eyes Healthy: Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is important to keep your eyes moist and comfortable, reducing the risk of dry eyes during and after sports. Balanced Diet: Eating a diet rich in vitamins A, C, and E, along with Omega-3 fatty acids, supports eye health and can improve your visual performance. Avoid Touching Your Eyes: During sports, your hands can pick up dirt and bacteria, which can lead to eye infections if you rub your eyes. Nutritious Foods for Children's Eye Health
Nutritious Foods for Children's Eye Health During the crucial developmental ages of 3 to 10, parents should ensure that their children receive a diverse range of nutrients to support healthy eyes. Choosing to include fish with high omega-3 content in their diet can help maintain good eye health. Examples of such fish include salmon, mackerel, or fish that are easily consumed by children, like anchovies or white-fleshed seafood such as frozen pollock and croaker. It's recommended to include a variety of fish types in the diet and aim to consume seaweed at least four times a week.   In addition to fish, green leafy vegetables should be a daily part of their diet, with a recommended serving of 100 grams per day. Fruits are essential, and at least one type should be included in their daily intake. Drinking a glass of milk or more per day is also advisable.   When possible, it's best to avoid fast food or processed foods and sugary snacks that contain high levels of salt and sugar, which can be harmful to eye health.   Foods Rich in Vitamin A Red eggs Butter Hard cheese Carrots Spinach   Foods Rich in Calcium Milk Dairy products Fish suitable for children Seaweed Paprika Tomatoes Spinach   Foods Rich in Protein, Essential for Eye Health Eggs Peanuts Fish with high omega-3 content. Afternoon Fatigue: Foods to Combat Drowsiness
Afternoon Fatigue: Foods to Combat Drowsiness Feeling drowsy and lethargic during the late afternoon is a widespread issue, particularly among young working individuals. Coping with afternoon drowsiness can be challenging, as it affects productivity and can lead to irritability and reduced work performance. In some cases, it could be associated with conditions like hypoglycemia, often caused by consuming sugary and starchy foods.   If you struggle with afternoon drowsiness and are uncertain about how to combat it, this health guide suggests four foods to help alleviate such symptoms:   Vitamin C-Rich Fruits: Fruits like guava, oranges, and broccoli are rich in vitamin C, which helps combat fatigue induced by stress and anxiety. Chromium-Containing Fruits: Apples, bananas, and sweet potatoes, which are rich in chromium, can help regulate blood sugar levels and provide an energy boost. Nutrient-Dense Seeds: Nuts, including almonds and walnuts, whole grains like brown rice, and legumes such as lentils, are packed with essential nutrients like magnesium and potassium. These elements nourish the nervous system and promote mental clarity and alertness. Healthy Fats from Fish: Incorporating fish with omega-3 fatty acids into your diet provides an excellent source of protein and beneficial fats. These fats not only support physical vitality but also improve concentration and memory.   With these dietary adjustments, you can bid farewell to afternoon drowsiness and regain your energy and focus. Remember that your food choices play a crucial role in combating fatigue and enhancing your overall well-being.   For more health tips and nutritional advice, explore our comprehensive resources.
